Planning for the Town Center Project, which arose from Stanford’s Long-Range Vision, reflects a rigorous community engagement process that revealed a preference for a vibrant campus center. After officially kicking off with a robust community engagement process and envisioning phase in 2019, the project was slowed by the pandemic but has now resumed programming and concept design efforts. To help turn this vision into reality, Stanford has enlisted outside experts with ongoing opportunities for the university community to weigh in with their reactions and ideas. The project team, guided by a committee of student, faculty, and staff representatives will continue to engage with the campus community, using pulse surveys and periodic open house sessions with campus planners and architects. Pilot programs and focus groups will also provide crucial feedback about what will serve the community well.

Open houses in the White Memorial Plaza area, as well as at Stanford Redwood City, are giving community members a further voice in plans for facilities, operations, and infrastructure. Additional opportunities to learn more and comment are forthcoming.
