About the Advisory Committee

Jump to list of committee members

The Town Center Advisory Committee, under the sponsorship of the Office of the President, consists of students, faculty, and staff representatives, and is responsible for providing guidance and advice to the project team.

Committee members are working to help Town Center become a vibrant and welcoming destination that supports the needs and interests of the Stanford campus community of students, faculty, postdocs, and staff, as well as the broader community of alumni, parents, and campus visitors. While committee members may regularly work closely with a specific stakeholder group, all committee members serve as stewards of the best interests of the entire university.

Advisory Committee Charge

The committee’s charge includes, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

  1. Advise on the programming of the Town Center to ensure it is functional and accessible to the community.
  2. Review and provide feedback on plans for new facilities or changes to existing facilities within the Town Center, including retail, dining, event programming, and office space.
  3. Consider the impact of the Town Center on the surrounding community, including traffic, noise, and other quality of life issues, and recommend strategies for mitigating any negative effects.
  4. Members will play an essential communications role, both in timely communication to relevant constituents and reporting feedback to the advisory committee and/or Project Team, advising on specific stakeholder outreach, which may take the form of communications, meetings or gatherings in which they may be asked to participate, as well as providing input on university-wide communications.
